Virginia has been the chairwoman of the River City Ball since its inception. She has lived in Smith County for most of her life, moving here in 1994 at seven years old. After attending MTSU and living in Murfreesboro for seven years, she was drawn back home after realizing how important a tight knit small community was.
Virginia has been involved in many community projects since moving home such as the Carthage Junction Depot restoration, arts projects, William Walton Harvest Festival, and Hometown Christmas. Virginia and her mom Susan Solimine are the owners of Rokabilly Coffee which just celebrated its 4th Birthday and love being a part of this amazing community.
River City Ball holds a special place in her heart, and she is so grateful for the continued support of this event to help organizations throughout the community through fundraising and awareness. Virginia dabbles in all aspects of the event, but especially loves design and marketing. She is chair of the Media and Marketing team this year.
Virginia and her husband live in New Middleton with their two sweet dogs, Buddy and Hawkeye. She loves to travel and hike, try new restaurants, and attend concerts but also cherishes a quiet day at home.
Jordan is a proud Smith County native who has been an active member of the River City Ball committee since before its inaugural event in 2018. With a keen eye for detail, he contributes to the overall design of the Ball and takes on much of the coordination in the weeks leading up to the event, ensuring that every detail comes together seamlessly. A 2011 graduate of Smith County High School, Jordan takes great pride in serving his community and giving back through events that bring people together.
In addition to his work with the River City Ball, Jordan has played a role in coordinating other notable community gatherings, including the 2023 “Dinner on the Cordell Hull Dam,” among others. His dedication to creating meaningful, well-executed events reflects his passion for both community and connection.
Outside of his volunteer work, Jordan has built a thriving career in real estate. He has been a licensed realtor since 2019 and currently works with Discover Realty & Auction in Carthage, TN. In 2024, he earned the title of Top Sales Agent in his office, a recognition of his hard work, professionalism, and commitment to his clients.
A fun fact about Jordan is that he still works in the Salon as a Cosmetologist on Fridays, simply for the joy of it. He lives in Carthage with his two cats, Cady and Coda, and enjoys spending his free time with friends and family or traveling. Friendly and approachable, Jordan looks forward to welcoming guests at the check-in table at next year’s River City Ball!
Melissa and her family moved to Smith County in 2011. She is the chair of the River City Ball Finance Committee and participates on the auction committee with silent auction support. She and her husband Jim met in college at Texas A&M and have been married 28 years. Their children are SCHS, MTSU and University of TN graduates. Melissa is a telecommunications management consultant, and their family owns The Candy Bar and Nobels restaurant. She is also a Carthage Rotary member, Smith County Living Board member and a TN Promise mentor. She is so thankful to live in a close-knit community like Smith County, and appreciates the scenic beauty, small businesses, hometown atmosphere and outdoor opportunities available in our area.
Kristie Glover has worked for Smith County Schools for the past 23 years and is currently serving as the Program Director for the before and after school programs and the District Math Coordinator. She married her husband Randy in 2018, and together they own and operate River Pointe Ranch, a cattle farm and wedding venue in South Carthage.
Kristie volunteers her time and skills helping several organizations in Smith County. She has served on the River City Ball committee for the past four years. Kristie is passionate about being a lifelong teacher and learner. In her free time, she loves to dance, travel, and spend time with her family and friends.
Meet Samantha Kirby, a multifaceted professional making a significant impact in both the real estate and healthcare realms. As a dedicated Realtor with Discover Realty and Auction, Samantha brings a wealth of expertise to guide clients through the intricate world of property transactions.
In addition to her real estate prowess, Samantha serves as a compassionate Registered Nurse at Saint Thomas Rutherford, where her commitment to healthcare is evident in every patient interaction. Her dual roles showcase a remarkable balance of business acumen and a genuine passion for promoting well- being.
Beyond the demands of her professional life, Samantha is deeply engaged in community service. Her volunteer work extends to the prestigious River City Ball, where she not only contributes her time but also assumes leadership roles. As the Chair of the Food and Drink Committee alongside Savannah Lish, Samantha orchestrates memorable culinary experiences, adding a distinct flavor to the event. Furthermore, her involvement in the Design Committee underscores her dedication to creating a seamless and captivating experience for attendees.
Outside of work, she treasures the time spent with her fiancé, Tom, and her three children, who remain her greatest inspiration. Together, they share a future filled with love, laughter, and the pursuit of new milestones.

Jerry has been a committee member since our second year of planning River City Ball. Jerry is a proud veteran and member of the American Legion Post 57 here in Smith County. He has been married to Susan for 49 years, and they have three children. Jerry is originally from just outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and met Susan while serving in the Navy in San Francisco.
They moved to Smith County in 1994 and have become very active in the community. Jerry worked at Tom Arnold Construction for almost 30 years until recently retiring. Now he enjoys visiting with friends at the coffee shop and working on projects at home. He’s an avid attendee at auctions and car shows and helps immensely with gathering auction items for the ball!
Hannah was born and raised in Smith County, Hannah Woodard is deeply committed to serving and strengthening her community. She has been a proud member of the River City Ball Committee since 2021 and currently serves as Chair of the Auction Committee. In this role, Hannah is passionate about growing the auction each year and helping the event reach new heights in support of its mission.
Hannah has been married to her husband, Michael, for 15 years, and together they are raising four children. A dedicated wife, mother, and community advocate, she brings enthusiasm, creativity, and heart to everything she does. She’s also a proud big sister who absolutely adores her sisters — family is at the center of everything in Hannah’s life, and those close bonds inspire the love and dedication she pours into her community.
In addition to her volunteer work, Hannah is a Realtor with Discover Realty & Auction, a career she began in 2022. Outside of work and philanthropy, she and her family are avid football fans — rarely missing a Tennessee Titans game or a local high school matchup. When they’re not on the sidelines, they can often be found in the gym supporting their children on the basketball court.
Hannah and her family are passionate about supporting Smith County in every way possible, and she considers it an honor to contribute to an event that makes such a meaningful impact on the community she loves.
He was born and raised in Woodbury, Tennessee, and moved to Smith County over ten years ago. He is married to Stephanie Jenkins-Inyart, an educator teaching Family and Consumer Science at Red Boiling Springs High School in Red Boiling Springs, TN. They have two growing boys- Cooper (6 years old) and Cole (4 years old). They live on Stephanie’s family farm in Rome/Rock City. Matthew currently works for the Tennessee Department of Transportation as a Network Operations Administrator- Lead for the past seven years.
In August 2022, Matthew was elected to the Smith County Commission as a County Commissioner representing Rome/Rock City (District 4). He is involved in several organizations, including Southside Lions Club (Past President), New Middleton Masonic Lodge #249, Carthage Benevolent Masonic Lodge #14, helped to start the Gordonsville Events Committee aka Gordonsville Halloween Bash, River City Ball, and currently serves as the Pack Committee Chairman for Cub Scout Pack 367 in Carthage. Matt is vital in assisting with our technology and sound needs for the event!
Savannah Lish is a multi-talented individual with a passion for community involvement and a drive to make a positive impact. For the past three years, Savannah has been an integral member of the River City Ball Committee, taking charge of coordinating the essential aspects of food, drink, and restroom facilities alongside her dedicated partner, Samantha Kirby. Her meticulous planning, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills have contributed immensely to the success of this annual charity event.
In addition to her role on the committee, Savannah is also a skilled realtor, helping clients navigate the real estate market with professionalism and expertise. Her commitment to providing exceptional service and finding the perfect homes for her clients has earned her a reputation as a trusted and reliable agent within the community. Beyond her professional pursuits, Savannah is an active member of her church, where she lends her beautiful voice to the worship team. Her passion for music and her ability to inspire others through her singing enhance the spiritual experience for the congregation.

Ashley has resided in Smith County since 2017 with her husband Travis who is Smith County native. She is a proud school of Agriculture graduate from Tennessee Technological University making her the first member of her family to obtain their bachelors degree.
Ashley has been a Park Ranger for the Army Corps of Engineers since 2010. She loves to cook and host friends over dinner especially during the fall so everyone can fellowship around the fire pit. She enjoys dance fitness, yoga, and kayaking. Her West Highland White Terrier Maisy and Miniature Schnauzer Ivy go nearly everywhere she does including most vacations.
She gives back to other non profits in the Upper Cumberland; Upper Cumberland Southern Off Road Bicycle Association and Friends of Cordell Hull Lake. Ashley is proud of RCB’s nonprofit mission and feels privileged to give back to the community.
Holly was born and raised in Smith County. She lives here with her husband of over 20 years and their two daughters. Holly and her husband Lance are Smith County High School and Tennessee Technological University graduates. Holly is an instructional coach for the Smith County School System. Her passion is working with teachers and helping students learn. Holly recently achieved her career goal of earning her doctorate in educational leadership. She believes in hard work and enjoys spending time with the ones she loves the most. Based on the Bible verse Luke 12:48 – For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required; Holly desires to serve others and give back to the community that helped build her.
This is Kisha’s first year serving on the River City Ball Committee. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, wife of an Army veteran, and mother of a Marine, Kisha’s life reflects her deep dedication to service, family, and community. She is an active member of the American Legion, serves on the Board with The Spot, and can often be found cheering on Smith County High School at games and competitions.
Kisha brings her energy and enthusiasm to both the Design Committee and the Food & Drink Committee, where she’s known for her willingness to help wherever it’s needed—and for showing up to meetings with snacks, drinks, or both. Her love for Smith County shines through everything she does: “I love this county so much, that I think everyone should stop by and see this place and all its glory.”
When she’s not volunteering, Kisha loves dancing, having fun, and spending time with her family and friends. At the River City Ball, you’ll likely spot her on the dance floor—so be sure to stop by and say hello!
Terry is a creative enthusiast with a passion for crafts like crocheting, knitting, painting, and cross-stitching. Alongside their artistic side, Terry is also passionate about computers, programming, and website development. She served her first year on the River City Ball Committee, though her involvement with the event goes back several years. She has regularly assisted in the week leading up to the Ball, helping ensure every detail comes together seamlessly. Terry is excited to continue supporting this tradition in an official role and looks forward to contributing her creative energy and fresh perspective to the committee.
Courtney is a lifelong resident of Smith County & 1998 graduate of Smith Co High School. She was born & raised in Defeated Creek & currently resides in the Whitefield Community of Carthage, TN.
Courtney has been married to Bo Ellenburg for 25 years. They have 2 children Cade (16) & Betsy (11). Cade is a junior at TPH Academy Nashville & in his 10th season with the Nashville Jr Predators- 16U AAA Hockey team. Betsy attends SCMS 6th grade & plays volleyball for SCMS Lady Owls. She also attends Carthage Dance Studio. They have 2 wonderful pets, Dolly & Tony.
She has worked in Healthcare for 29 years. Courtney is a Radiology Technologist of 21 years, registered in Radiology, CT, & MRI and is very passionate about taking care of others.
This is her first year on the committee board, and she is looking forward to seeing it come to life in May 2026.
Alex is a Carthage resident and proud transplant from Utah, where he graduated high school. Now 30, Alex brings fresh energy and ideas to the River City Ball Committee. He attended the last two events for the Ball and is excited to be more deeply involved this year—especially in networking and helping shape the event’s success. Alex works in sales with Dell Technologies and is passionate about fitness, which keeps him motivated and goal-oriented both personally and professionally.
